MonacoTech, the Principality’s official start-up incubator, has closed its selection of startups, and reveals the specifics of the five projects selected.

By taking over the management of MonacoTech last January – a project co-founded in 2017 by the Prince’s government, Monaco Telecom and Xavier Niel – the former Director of IMSEE, Lionel Galfré and his team had the mission of launching a new call for projects.

Their ambition is to include “MonacoTech in a dynamic ecosystem favorable to the development of innovation in the Principality” through projects that echo Monaco’s economic values ​​and strategies.

The pre-selection stages of this 5th edition closed on Tuesday, June 30, in the presence of a jury made up of entrepreneurs and government figures:

M. Stanislas Boulet d’Auria (Managing Director of 3X Engineering)

M. François-Xavier Le Clerc (Head of the government’s Economy Funding & Development Office, and State Administrator of MonacoTech)

M. André Saint-Mleux (President of Arthapol, Business Angel and State Administrator of Monaco Telecom)

Mrs Nathalie Schlemmer-Maire (Founder of Dépil Tech)

M. Philippe Schriqui (Entrepreneur)

M. Pierre Van Klaveren (National advisor and co-founder of VK*P Business Advisors).

The 38 applications received came from 13 different nations; an opportunity to recall that MonacoTech is not only reserved for Monegasques and residents.

The 5 startups chosen to join the MonacoTech program will enrich the portfolio of already incubated startups, widening the range of vertical sectors and markets represented such as AdTech, Applications, Augmented Reality, BioTech, GreenTech & Transport, FinTech, MedTech, RegTech and Yachting.

MonacoTech unveils these 5 selected projects:

1/ Air Ion : a Swiss business specialized in designing RUAVs and 100% electric air taxi..

2/ Carlo a mobile app that promotes and reinvents local shopping. Customers earn and spend cashback every time they shop in their city. For now, the app is available in Monaco and is being tested in Barcelona

3/ Mea Plant : developed by Italian researchers, Mea Plant is a pioneering solution that makes aboveground cultivation and vertical agriculture more efficient and sustainable thanks to a non-absorbent substrate.

4/ PKSis a RegTech project, born in Monaco, that intends to create ad hoc solutions allowing different entities to comply with the laws applicable to a specific activity.

5/ Vizua 3D Entertainment, is originated in France and North America, and takes augmented reality a step further. The startup’s high-performance cloud platform delivers powerful 3D content visualization, sharing and collaboration for professional and consumer applications

A 6th startup proposing an innovative technology in the field of data security management could potentially join MonacoTech However, the stakes and specificities pertaining to its activities require an in-depth study, which is still ongoing.

The founders and teams will integrate our premises as off beginning of August 2020, bringing to 20 the total number of startups presently incubated at MonacoTech.
